Pine Cultivation in Southern Brazil

Pre-congress trip: September 22nd to 28th, 2019.

In this seven days trip you will get to know the Pinus (Loblolly pine) cultivation in the Southern Region of Brazil and see impressive landscapes, among them some forests dominated by Araucaria angustifolia. Four high-level companies will be visited, using Pinus as raw material. They will be able to meet and discuss with specialists the whole cycle of operations, from genetic improvement strategy, pest control, planting and maintenance to harvesting and transportation of wood.
The first day will only be for the trip to the first destination city, Canoinhas. On the second day we will visit the WestRock factory, one of the most traditional forest companies in Brazil. On the third day in the morning, we will go to Rio Negrinho, where Solida Brasil is located, specialized in high quality wood products, destined to the national and international market. Then a stop for lunch at a traditional steak house in the area and continue to the town of Lages. On the fourth day a visit in Klabin, in Otacílio Costa, a company of Brazilian origin, the largest producer and exporter of paper in Brazil. On the fifth day we will go to the city of Campo Belo do Sul for a visit to the company Gateados, which stands out for the quality of handling for production of logs with pruning and slabs. Then we go to our last stop, the city of Urubici. The following morning, we will see the exuberant natural beauties of the Urubici region, such as Morro da Igreja, the highest inhabited place in southern Brazil. To finish the tour, a visit to a regional winery with wine tasting. On the last day we will return to Curitiba.
This is a bus trip, starting in Curitiba on Sunday, September 22nd and ending on September 28th in Curitiba.
The trips will be accompanied by a Forestry Engineer or Researcher with more than 20 years of knowledge about forest operations in Brazil.

Note: trip confirmation requires a minimum number of 20 participants.

 

 

Eucalyptus Cultivation In Southern and Southeastern Brazil

Pre-congress trip: September 22nd to 28th, 2019.

On this seven day trip you will see the Eucalyptus cultivation in the South and Southeast regions of Brazil. You can also enjoy the springs of a spa with mineral and thermal waters and handcrafted delicacies produced in the region. You will see the full cycle of operations and will have the opportunity to discuss with experts from genetics improvement strategy, pest control, planting and maintenance to harvesting and timber transport.
The first day will only be for the trip to the first destination city, Telêmaco Borba. On the second day, a visit in Klabin, a company of Brazilian origin, the largest producer and exporter of paper in Brazil, where plots with more than 60 m³/ha/year can be seen. On the third day, in the morning, a visit in the ScanCom company, one of the market leaders in the field of garden furniture that has units in Brazil, Vietnam, North America, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Germany and Hong Kong. After lunch at a regional restaurant, we will head to Itapetininga. On the fourth day we will visit one of the forest sites of Suzano, the largest paper and pulp company in Brazil and the second largest in the world from Eucalyptus cultivation. At the end of the afternoon, we will go to Mogi Guaçu, our third destination. On the fifth day, the visit will be at the company International Paper, present in Brazil for over 50 years and an excellent level of operational development. At the end of the afternoon, we will go on our trip to our last destination, Águas de Lindóia. The next day, we will visit one of the springs of the region, followed by a visit to a regional farm of the region with a traditional lunch and finishing the day with an excellent colonial coffee with handcrafted products. On the last day we will return to Curitiba.
